What is Quality?

What is Quality?

Nobody ever talks about making a lesser quality product, do they? We all want things to be higher quality but really, what does that mean? For us, it's actually a very simple measure of how much enjoyment it brings: that's the basic equation. We can't make a wine that you want a second (or fifth) glass of if it isn't high quality. Trust us, we tried everything out there and we struggled to find a bottle that made us smile.

I can no longer drink alcohol because it increases my chances of cancer returning. That changed my life and motivated us to move our winery away from alcohol entirely several years ago. Unfortunately, we had to wait for the right processes and technology to be available locally before we could make the switch to NA. That meant that we went several years without having a product to sell. It's hard to keep your business alive when you have no revenue but we were committed to our understanding of quality and decided to invest in finding the right way to deliver that. For us, and for West & Wilder, it wasn't a consideration to make an NA wine one way when we knew there was a better way to make it. So we waited.

We don't want our wines to be 'ok for being non-alcoholic'. We want them to be great, and just happen to be NA. So, quality means that not only are we happy with it but that you are too — nobody's opinion on West & Wilder's quality is more important than the people who buy it, share it, enjoy it and support it. Our promise is that we continue to find the best way to make delicious NA wines that over deliver and are good enough to grace any table. Our pursuit of that promise has required patience, investment in research and development, and belt tightening. Nothing gets better without someone giving a $h%t. That's what we mean by quality.
